September saw our first club meeting back in Milstead Village Hall since the
pandemic began back in March 2020! With covid in mind the club provided hand
sanitiser on the door, the payment desk and in the kitchen, with masks worn
by most members.
We started the day with a one-minute silence in memory of Dawn. A good
number of club members were able to attend her funeral in person and say
goodbye on behalf of everyone. Her service was very well attended, showing
just how loved and missed she will be by everyone who knew and interacted
with her.
The club table showed that members had been busy during the various months
of lockdown with some great pieces evidencing our varied skills and artistic
imaginations.
Chris took the big lathe for the morning and started turning out a good size
bowl, putting a lot of shavings on the floor! Geoff Horsfield brought his
lathe in as usual on a club day along with a mixture of sharpening jigs that
he uses for drills (some bought, and some custom made) for members to look
at. In the afternoon Paul took over on the big lathe and turned out a small
bowl, decorating it using the new Rainbow Waxes from Chestnut that he bought
at the woodturning weekender.
We're back in October on the 9th for another club day, If you would like to
bring your lathe please let one of the committee know so that we can make
space.
And finally a warning that we
WILL repeat WILL
be having a meeting on November 13th as the
Women's Institute has cancelled their hall booking for that date.
